The first English language edition of this Spanish novel by Salvador de Madariaga, published in the original Spanish in 1942. Widely regarded as one of the finest examples of modern Spanish-language literature. A work of historical fiction set in the late pre-Columbian age in Mexico City, depicting the life of the ancient Aztec people. Complete with the vanishingly scarce unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. The dust wrapper is unclipped and sound with minor shelf wear, and a minor loss to the head and tail of the spine, minor closed tears. Internally, the hinges are slightly strained to the title page, the volume firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good
