First edition, 8vo, 2 parts in 1; pp. xxviii, 160, 24; original full speckled calf; joints cracked, front board neatly reattached, head of spine chipped with minor loss; textblock toned; some foxing. Bookplates of the Peabody Institute and the Library Company of Baltimore, both with release stamps. The preface is signed William Smith. With the sectional title page Sermons on Various Subjects. "On the Death of Rev. Nathaniel Evans," is signed "Laura" [i.e. Elizabeth Ferguson]. (1879), hardcover, no dust jacket; original blind-ruled dark maroon cloth over flexible cardstock; covers edge-worn and quite fade-spotted, but no interior effects; 54 pp., lightly and uniformly toned; original yellow endpapers with intact hinges; alphabetical format with additional text on grammar, syntax, and orthography; also iincluded is 12-page 5" x 6" booklet entitled "Ezango Z'Imari Go Mpongwe", 1877 date on front wrapper with imprint: "Baraka, Press VI Mission"; wraps have a few edge-chips and corner creases, but are sewn, and content leaves are clean and complete.
