About This Item

Methuen, London, 1983. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good. Introduction by Martin Tickner, Noel Coward – A Chronology and a note on text. At the rear of the book, as already mentioned there are eight pages of black-and-white photographs. Illustrated paperback binding with blue coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the backstrip. Black and white photograph of author to the rear panel. A comedy of bad manners. Starting with the arrival of four guests, invited independently by different members of the Bliss family for a weekend at their country house near Maidenhead. The idyllic and peaceful weekend envisaged by the guests is quickly trounced by the self-absorbed eccentricities of the family who leave the guests humiliated, embarrassed and abandoned, and force them to slink away. First produced in 1925. . A little rubbing of the book corners and of the book pages. Age toning of the text block edges and pages with a slight yellowing of the white coloured background on the front panel. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [6] 7 - XVI, [4], 9 - 107, [9 – of which eight are black-and-white photographs showing stills from various productions of the play] pages,.
