New York and London: Funk & Wagnalls Company, (1898), 1898. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Thick 8vo. pp. xxii, [3], 2-534. Includes 56 full page plates, containing over one hundred half-tone reproductions from photographs, with border decorations. Folding map. Most likely first edition with date on the title page. Red illustrated cloth binding with Hawaiian surfer. Binding has edge and corner wear, slight spotting. Book now protected in new mylar. No former owner's names or marks. The front free end paper is missing. Book is solid, square, and tight. Pages are very clean. Published soon after annexation by the United States in 1897. A scarce copy.
