New York: The Viking Press, 1959. First Edition. Fine/Near Fine. First edition, first printing. Bound in publisher's yellow and turquoise cloth with titles stamped in black. Two title letters on front cover stamped lightly, else Fine in a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with light rubbing, light edge wear and a small bookseller ticket to the front flap, but in a much nicer jacket than as normally found. The horror novel that inspired the 1963 and 1999 films titled The Haunting and the current Netflix show.

Synopsis

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson is widely considered one of the best literary ghost stories published during the twentieth century. The novel has been adapted to film twice — in 1963 and again in 1999 — both times under the title The Haunting . The Gothic tale tells the story of socially repressed Eleanor Vance and three others who head to Hill House to partake in an experiment involving paranormal activities.
