Faint dampstain at the edges of the first dozen leaves, else near fine in good or better pictorial dust jacket with modestly darkened corresponding stain on the front wrap, and some overall soiling and wear. Roberts was a prolific West Indian journalist who was later known for his travel books of that region. Spooky detective tale set in the world of motion pictures, this appears to be Roberts' first novel, preceded by two volumes of poetry. Often mentioned as the first mystery by a Black novelist, although the Creole Roberts' lineage is questioned by some. Nevertheless, very uncommon, and seemingly rare in the striking dust jacket.
