About This Item
Tokyo: Asoka Shobo, 1953. Octavo. Book 2, 195 pages, illustrations, some in color, some folding and with one folding color wood block print used as frontispiece. Japanse Lanaguage. [Suzuki] Harunobu (1724-1770) was a Japanese designer of beautiful woodblock prints in the Ukiyo-e style. He was also the originator of the polychrome print. A handsome copy in original slipcase and shipping box. With the end of the American Military Occupation of Japan in 1952, the Japanese culture including their interest in an honest view of the erotic could easily be distributed. Here is a very nice example of a scarce item which shows the work of Suzuki Harunobu. Bound in white pictorial paper covered boards, spine lettering black, near fine with just a hint of toning to edges.
