Labor-themed paper, apparently scarce; evidently not a front for one of the communist groups making forays into coal country at the time, as it includes an ad for a revival preacher and local businesses, but there is a substantial letter to the editor discussing the importance of May Day. A letter from a nurse states that she witnessed the handling of the body of Lawrence Jones, a miner shot in the face by a Duke Power employee; she claims that he had already died before admission to the hospital, contradicting the official story.
