VIII, 198 pp., [3] plates, [2] Folding genealogical tables. Sunning and fading to spine ends and corners, wear to spine head. Offsetting to endpapers. Dust jacket has significant chipping with loss, spine sunned, some creasing and wear to edges. A series of essays on outstanding women of the T'ang who lived during the reign of Emperor Hsuan-tsung (712-756), describing the effect they had on dynastic history. Dr. Howard Levy is an American sinologist who enjoyed several years of residence in Asia. He specialized in Chinese dynastic history, with concentration on the T'ang, and his articles and reviews have appeared in many learned periodicals.
