The Happy Prince and Other Tales is a collection of fairy tales and fables, including "The Happy Prince," "The Nightingale and the Rose," "The Selfish Giant," "The Devoted Friend," and "The Remarkable Rocket." Although they are primarily geared toward children, the stories in this volume are laden with Wilde's signature wit and have a melancholy and sometimes sarcastic undertone. Charles Robinson (1870-1937) was a British illustrator whose work was prominent during the turn of the twentieth century, when illustrated children's gift books became popular. He is known for illustrating a number of children's titles, including A Child's Garden of Verses (1895), Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1907), and Grimm's Fairy Tales (1910)..
