1910. Original manuscript. Hardcover. Good. 100+pp of tightly written entries, most in black ink, on his observations in Puerto Rico, Cuba, St. Thomas, Santa Cruz, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Vincent, Barbados, &c. The notebook is crammed with descriptions and statistics on steamship lines and on the countries visited, especially topography, weather patterns, and ports. A few side comments refer to the Improved Order of Redmen, the Ancient Order of Gleaners, and the Modern Woodmen of America. Also, curiously, written here and there are full lyrics to several songs: "Little Old Cabin in the Lane," "Down Where the Suwanee River Flows," "Yellow Rose of Texas," and one or two more. Bound in red morocco over flexible boards. 6" x 4". Used during travel. Although we have not found the traveler's name, he resided in the Saginaw-Byron corridor of Michigan.
