New York, 1895. Unbound. Very good. This postally used envelope features two nicely drawn pencil sketches. One is of a braying donkey in evening dress with a caption that reads, "1 A.M. - Just in from the Box Social. Very tired and sleepy." The other is of a court jester holding a sign above his head that reads, "Wedding Cake from B. Bice." The envelope is addressed to Charles Truesdell, Cascade Valley, Broome Co., New York. It is franked on the reverse with a 2 cent carmine Washington stamp (Scott #250) tied to the cover with circular Cascade Valley postmark and canceled with a star handstamp. There are two additional New York postmarks on the reverse; one from Cooperstown and one from Fry Creek. Light postal soiling and wear.
