Chapter titles: One: Amerindian, Two: Loyalist, Three: Neo-Classic, Four: Regency, Five: Picturesque, Six: Gothic, Seven: Plain, Eight: Greek, Nine: Italianate, Ten: Vernacular. 271 pp. plus: Postlude (24 pp.), Glossary, Acknowledgements, Index. 304 pp. in toto. Brown cloth covered boards have gilt text on spine only, b/w photographs (Toles) and black line drawings. Small crease (1") bottom corner of fly leaf, a tiny white spot on front, bottom edge and a hardly noticeable ding to top front edge. Unclipped ($24.95), card cover, unlaminated DJ has edge wear wtih chipping and a sunned spine. Book is SIGNED by both MacRae (black ink) and Adamson (blue ink). Book was the recipient of the 1975 Governor General's Award for non-fiction. Marion MacRae was also invested into the Order of Canada. She died in 2008. Book is very rare with both signatures.
