About This Item

Walker Books Ltd, 2005. Paperback. Used: Acceptable. Paperback in good condition. 2005 Walkers books edition. A humorous, action-filled tale about a pig divided. Kind Mrs. Harbottle loves Esmeralda but she only owns half of the porker. Her evil husband would like to turn his half into sausages. Now that they are divorced, he sends some thugs to claim the pig. Luckily, the children who live next door give chase and successfully engineer the animal's return. The tale begins with an invitation from the author to read the story ("It is an excellent one in my opinion, but then I would say that, wouldn't I"). Funny footnotes appear throughout. Done in watercolor, colored pencil, and ink, the cartoon illustrations are bright and appealing. The words and pictures are playfully intertwined and mutually supportive. Although the narrative is a bit wordy, the artwork will assist independent readers' understanding of the text. . Childrens. 1-84428-524-3.
