About This Item
London: Self Published, 1791. Half Leather - Hardbound. Good+/No Jacket. Volumes IX and X ONLY of what eventually became a 20 volume set. These two volumes were rebound into a single volume, circa mid 19th century. There is a dedication title page for "Vol. II" followed by the actual title page for Vol. IX with 352 pages, plus seven plates and six folding maps (lacking "Map of Germany" and "Burgomasier and Peasant of Nuremburg") and actual title page for Vol. X with 337 pages, plus six plates and four folding maps. Three pages of binding instructions for Volumes VI, VII, VIII, & IX follow. Gilt stamped lettering on red spine labels remains bright. Covers are scuffed and lightly worn. There is a partial and slight crack in the joint where the top cover is attached to the spine, and the hinge (internal) is also cracked. Volume remains tight, however, and text block is solid. Occasional light offsetting from maps and plates, though overall the contents are very bright, clean, and crisp.
