Novel set in Melbourne, by the English novelist and journalist who immigrated to Australia in 1854, worked in the Victorian gold fields, started a newspaper, then moved on to New Zealand in 1861, where he worked on the Otago Daily Times.
8vo, 146pp. Printed in double columns. Half brown leather and red marbled boards, rubbed at edges; endpapers show where the book was wrapped in brown paper in the past. From the library of G.R. Wiley, who amongst other occupations, was a book dealer in Bethel Hill Maine. Bound by Dresser McLellan &Co, Portland Maine, with their printed red label laid down at front paste down.
