Chicago / Knoxville TN: Curt Teich & Co. / Werner News Agency, 1950. Pamphlet. Views of the pop-up city and the factories it serves, built to house a myriad workers and their families. Eighteen colorized postcard-sized photographs printed back to back on a long accordioned leaf that is fastened into a kind of envelope with graphics and a place for an address; the return address is of course the little new city with its surrounding forested mountains (situated for remoteness). One suite of nine images is entirely of mammoth processing plants (except for the high school), while the verso suite is hills and gardens and a beautiful parking lot. Splendidly rendered colors, and. for the most part, interesting subject matter. The outer envelope is very slightly egeworn else very good to fine: bright colors, great state of preservation.
