This celebrated set of the Greek Anthology -- edited by Denys Page, Regius Professor of Greek at Cambridge, and A.S.F. Gow, another excellent textual critic as well as A.E. Housman's friend and literary executor -- is quite scarce complete in five volumes, as here.

Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 1965. 2 vols. L,264;719p. Original blue cloth. Spine gilt titled. Lacking dust wrps. Ex library copy. Remains of tape to tail spine and part cover. Head and tail spine slightly bumped. Cover bit scratched and stained. Library marks on first and last pages. Vol.1: hinges strenghtend with white tape. Used but clean inside. 'The work is devoted to almost 5,000 lines of Hellenistic poetry which had remained so far (...) devoid of any adequate commentary. Not only Alexandrinists but all students of Greek literature are heavily indebted to the editors, who have produced an outstanding piece of scholarship. Professor Page has concentrated his attention on Meleager, whose poems are analysed, with penetrating acumen, in their literary background and the allusiveness of their diction (...).
