FIRST EDITION 1908, 8vo, light green pictorial cloth, illustrated in brown, black, green and yellow on upper cover and spine, gilt lettered on upper cover and spine, olivine edges, grey endpapers, pages: 367 + 16. 8 black and white plates by W. Rainey plus a folding map. Very slight rubbing to head and tail of spine, hinges and corners, a touch of fading to spine, front endpaper REMOVED neatly, neat inscription dated 1947 on front pastedown (see image), slight faint foxing to prelim pages, some light foxing to many margins within, a very small chip to lower margin of page 179 neatly repaired, tiny closed tear to lower edge of a few centre folds. Spine slightly faded, gilt spine lettering slightly worn, head and tail of spine very slightly worn with 1 minute nick to cloth at head and tail of spine, tiniest bump to lower corner of upper cover, neat name at top of half-title, pale foxing to half-title, occasional slight pale foxing throughout, a couple of inner joints cracked but binding tight and firm, small crease to a few top corners. Non-authorial inscription on endpaper [dated 1910]; evidence of a small label removed on front pastedown; spine panel a bit dull with slight loss of enamel; rear cover a bit dust-solied, front cover particularly bright and unworn. A very nice copy.
