Thick 8vo., 1080pp. Beautiful Stated First Printing of this huge anthology of classic 52 stories from a diverse lineup of authors such as Thomas Hardy, M.R. James, Rudyard Kipling, Arthur Machen and even Ernest Hemingway. Square, tight and a very clean interior with no toning or foxing to pages. The only real blemish keeping this from a Fine, is the off-setting to paste-downs and gutters. Otherwise, little or no wear save some very gentle bumping to the heel. A remarkably well-preserved book given its size and when it was published. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.95), has some rubbing to folds and hinges. Some tiny nicks particularly to the spine ends. A short closed tears to the top rear hinge. Rear panel mildly toned. Still fresh and bright with no creases. A gorgeous collectable copy and quite uncommon to find in such high-grade condition.
