Boston: Grand Encampment, 1895. Oblong Octavo. This copy came from the estate of Frank C. Roundy (1858-1955). He served as Imperial Potentate of the Shrine, 1907-1908. In his long life he personally knew every imperial potetentate from its founding in 1876 and installed many of them in office. At the time of his death he was the oldest living 33rd degree AASR (NJ). Also laid in is Frank C. Roundy's Honorary Membership of the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh, of the Syria temple in Pittsburgh with engraving of Winfield Scott Schley, retired Admiral of the US Navy, a photograph signed by five officers, and a phograph of James McVittie Potententate of Medinah Temple of Chicago with Thomas C Law, Sept 6, 1941. In short, an archive of one of the most prominent shriners. Bound in blue-green cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, one corner worn. A very handsome copy.

Boston: A. A. Rothenberg & Co., 1895. First edition. Oblong folio (14 x 11 inches). 499, [9, index] pp. Photographic illustrations and portraits on every page. Publisher's padded pebble-grain brown morocco, gilt spine and cover lettering, fine gilt representation of a mounted Knight on front, floral endpapers, all edges gilt. Original plain two-part box (some repair). A fine copy of this lavish publication. Laid in the the August 27th special issue of the Boston Herald devoted to the Encampment (illustration on page one is in color). This was a massive meeting of 40,000 Knights Templar and it almost took over the city of Boston for a short period. In the New York Times of August 27th, we read - "Boston has seldom, if ever, been so elaborately decorated. Practically every building along the line of the march, besides many of the side streets, is clothed in color, with appropriate mottoes and Masonic emblems, intertwined with streamers and bunting." California participants arrived there in a special train.
