Magazine. 24p. includes covers, 8.5x11 inches, news, art, poetry, services & resources, ads, events, directory, a few pen marks else very good newsletter in stapled wraps. Poor reproductions in b&w of several classic gay and lesbian artworks from Michelangelo, Beardsley, Blake, Brooks and Cadmus. Updates on local activities, discussions of the Movement, ads, photos, services, etc. Literary reviews. Issues for Oct. 1971 - Nov. 1974 lack volume and issue numbering but constitute v.1, #1 - v.4, #2. Volume numbering begins with v.4, #3 (Dec. 1974). The Gay People's Academic Union grew out of a University of a Wisconsin-Milwaukee student organization the Gay Liberation Organization which first met in 1970. The GPU was founded in 1971 and opened the first Gay & Lesbian Community Center.
