Berkeley, California: The Friends of the Bancroft Library, 1965. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Signed by Author. Sterling condition hardcover copy of a due homage, a loving festschrift, to an important figure in the growth and development of an important library. SIGNED by the subject of the festschrift, inscribed warmly to David C. Duniway. With unbruised tips, tight binding, and clean internals, showing only very slight shelf- and edge-wear; not ex-library, with neither underlining nor highlighting anywhere. Printed by Alfred and Lawton Kennedy. Bound in brick-red cloth over boards, quite fine, protected with a stiff plastic sleeve. Contributions by O. Cort Majors, Dale L. Morgan, Agapito Rey, Charles L. Camp, Robert H. Becker, Robert E. Burke, Warren R. Howell, Susanna Bryant Dakin, J.S. Holliday, France V. Scholes, George P. Hammond himself, and Francis P. Farquhar. David C. Duniway was the first Oregon State Archivist and a champion for historic preservation in Salem, and this is the author's Presentation Copy to him. He was a founding officer, in 1940, "of the American Association for State and Local History and a founding member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, chartered by Congress in 1947," and was the grandson of Oregon suffrage leader Abigail Scott Duniway (according to the Oregon Encyclopedia web-site), and likely encountered GPH while earning a Master's degree in history and a Library Certificate from the University of California at Berkeley. xiii, 1-119 pp. Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
