Yellow boards with title stamped in various fonts in black on front. Black cloth spine with title stamped in yellow. A comic classic of modern Irish literature, first published in England in 1939. Though Graham Greene championed the novel (his Pantheon front jacket blurb trumpets "A book in a thousand...in the line of Ulysses and Tristram Shandy." ) , and later book blurbs quote Dylan Thomas' mini-book review: "This is just the book to give your sister if she's a loud, dirty, boozy girl." ) , it was initially not a hot seller. London: Faber and Faber, 1952. Some creasing and small tears to the edges of price-clipped dustwrapper, the top inch or so of which is torn away at the top end of the spine. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners of orange boards, a small faded bit at the top end of the spine where the dustwrapper has been torn away, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Doesn't seem to be a common book, I see very few copies anywhere online. The author's first book. Winner of the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Stone Diaries. Born in the U. S. She lived in Canada most of her adult life. This title was not published in the U.S.

A rare early production from the essential Atlas Press, a revised version of this translation previously published in Australia. Unmarked copy, light spotting to page edges.

Rare hardcover 1st edition. Cover has some wear and water marks on the edge. Some shelf wear & corners bumped. Some light tanning. Nice, tight binding. Good for its age. Fictional story of Wannaseska, the Cherokee prophet set during the time the State of Georgia (white settlers) were about to confiscate Cherokee Lands in N. Georgia. The prophet is first hand eye witness and victim to the outrages. Story ends with the Trail, of Tears when the Cherokees agreed to move to Indian Territory in Oklahoma.

Scarce early issue of the seminal sixties underground mimeo revolution mag, distributed by mailing list. Includes an excerpt from Happiness Bastard by Kirby Doyle (6 years before its book publication). Unmarked copy, horizontal mailing crease (but not addressed or mailed), some minor soil and wear.
