First paste down has xlibris plate laid in at corner where with dust jacket in place it is largely covered. Text is heavy, many photos and illustrations. Binding sound, text clean. Jacket exceedingly rough, large chips out, spine severely age darkened. This said, in its mylar wrapper and possessing the same rococo illustrations it adds nicely to the book. But he is preceded by materials on tapestries, wood carvers, armorers, on Ghiberti, Brunelleschi, Donatello and the Della Robbias-- not a goldsmith among 'em. Cellini is followed by Paul Revere, who never even made it to Florence, Massachusetts, and then a woodcarver and master smith of "today," i.e. 1929, both working in Gothic design. Stock# 101,656x.
