Description:
NY: Macmillan. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair+. A showy, richly done book. Killer blind stamping of boards and gorgeously done endsheets. First paste down has xlibris plate laid in at corner where with dust jacket in place it is largely covered. Text is heavy, many photos and illustrations. Binding sound, text clean. Jacket exceedingly rough, large chips out, spine severely age darkened. This said, in its mylar wrapper and possessing the same rococo illustrations it adds nicely to the book. Will attempt to shoot both for the on line foto. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*

Description:
New York, Macmillan, 1929. Hard Cover. xv, 209 p., illus., 32 cm. The Florentine goldsmith one thinks of is Benvenuto Cellini-- and he is here, late in part II. But he is preceded by materials on tapestries, wood carvers, armorers, on Ghiberti, Brunelleschi, Donatello and the Della Robbias-- not a goldsmith among 'em. Cellini is followed by Paul Revere, who never even made it to Florence, Massachusetts, and then a woodcarver and master smith of "today," i.e. 1929, both working in Gothic design. Stock# 101,656x. A handsome book and a handsome copy. Another copy. Rebound in green cloth. Ex-library.This copy $40.00.
