London: MacMillan & Co, 1890. Hardcover. Near Fine/No Jacket. Full contemporary calf, gilt flowers to compartments and corners of boards, gilt title. Gilt detailing to outer edges at corners. Inner edge dentelle. Marbled endpapers. A.E.G. [10], 381 pp. Engraved title vignette. Some light rubbing to joints and edges, light scuffing to boards. Sporadic foxing to interior, most prominent to endpapers, interior mostly clean. Inner hinge cracked at half-title. Ink gift inscription to flyleaf dated 1890. This popular anthology of English poetry was first published in 1861. It was considerably revised and expanded in the 1890s, with suggestions from Alfred Lord Tennyson, to whom the first edition was dedicated.
