On the title-page, the legend "A citizen of that town" is printed beneath Lindsay's name, and beneath that, we find the following: "Being the review of a book that will appear in the autumn of the year 2018 [which, as of this writing, is only a few months away!], and an extended description of Springfield, Illinois, in that year". It is a strange feeling to be cataloging this book in June 2018, especially as it is a novel of a future which is just about to arrive. 8vo illustrated boards. An unusually fine copy of this curiosity.
