New York: Random House, 1942. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Very good in original black cloth-covered boards and good price-clipped dust jacket. First state binding (black cloth with a red topstain). First issue dust jacket with eight titles printed on back panel beginning with "Storm". Stated first printing. The book has a very slight bump to one corner, dulling on the spine, and very brief foxing on the endpapers and first and last pages. The dust jacket has a 2.5" closed tear, considerable rubbing at the extremities, very shallow chipping and edgewear, a surface tear and small piece of tape at the bottom of the rear panel, and sunning.
Synopsis
Go Down, Moses is a collection of Faulkner's stories that once strung together, tell the composite history of the McCaslin family, specifically of the white and black descendants of Lucius Quintus Carothers McCaslin and the residents of the plantation he founded.
