The Ginger Man by J. P. Donleavy - 1955

"The Ginger Man" by J.P. Donleavy. Published in softback by the Olympia Press in 1955. First Edition. 353pp. The book is in Good Plus condition. The binding is tight and there is no shelf lean. The book is free of foxing. The covers are clean although there are miniscule nicks to the edges, especially on the spine. The spine has a crease as does the front cover. The front cover crease is very mild and was probably a binding fault as I have seen other first editions of this book with the same depredation. Internally the book is inscription and annotation free. The internal pages have light handling creases and there is the very occasional light blemish to be seen but these are very few. The main fault cosmetically with the book is the uneven nature of the page edge block. The edge block is quite clean but there is a ridge effect to the side block (see scan) which may, again, have been a binding fault back in 1955. A classic 20thC novel that was listed in the famous "New York Times" list of the best novels of that century. Further scanned images are available on request. Any questions, please just ask.
