About This Item
267 pages. Small stain on flyleaf, bears bookplate and signature of Prof. K.M. Setton (1914-1995) of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Binding absolutely sound, all pages tight and bright, with perhaps a little age-darkening.
Reinhold Röhricht (1842-1905) was arguably one of the most indefatigable, intensive, thorough and meticulous compilers, editors and organizers of materials relating to the history and topography of the Holy Land and the Crusades. Although not an historical synthesizer nor indeed an historian, but perhaps more of an antiquarian and researcher, Röhricht virtually singlehandedly laid the foundation for modern historical research and study of the Crusades.
Although somewhat dated now, his critical edition of materials relating to the
First Crusade still remain of value to modern historians
