Original blue-green cloth decorated in black and lettered in gilt on the spine. [18.2 cm.] Spine ends slightly rubbed, some faint soiling to joints, endpapers tanned near hinges, still a very good copy in original glassine dust jacket (spine panel sunned; a few small tears and tiny chips). FIRST EDITION. One of 420 copies printed for the Typophile subscribers, being Typophiles Chap Book #23. (There was also an edition of 350 copies issued simultaneously by the Book Club of California). Preface by James W. Elliott. "Note" on the book's production by Paul A. Bennett (pp. [59]-60). An account of the invention of the Columbian iron press in 1813 by Philadelphian, George Clymer (1754-1834), and Clymer's subsequent success at promoting the press in Europe.�
