Illustrated with six stunning full colour chromolithographic plates and twenty-seven sepia vignettes throughout the text. The artist is Julius Höppner, a master of fairy and fantasy illustration. Original white cloth with elaborate full gilt decoration to spine and front board, which also has a sunken panel, with a bevelled gilt tooled edge, where a full colour illustration is placed. Silk patterned paper endpapers. All edges gilt. Binding a bit loose. The board edges are rubbed and marked & there is some minor foxing to most pages but overall this is a near to very good copy of a truly beautiful book.

City Lights. San Francisco. 1977. FOLIO in Tabloid format. Folded, as issued. 11 issues, complete. (17.7 x 11.4 inches). Very good condition throughout with some very minor rubbing and toning to the edges but still all clean and sound. The set has been very well looked after. Started by Vale with $100 from Lawrence Ferlinghetti and the same amount from Allen Ginsberg, Search & Destroy was a hugely influential recorder of the early Punk scene in America, while also reporting on and interviewing the bands making a name for themselves on the British scene, including Iggy Pop, Blondie, Dead Kennedys, X, Devo, The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, Sham 69, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Buzzcocks and an article on Vivienne Westwood. Complete sets of the original publications are uncommon.

The first three volumes are the first printing of these reprints using the original stereotype plates from the original First editions which were published between 1843 and 1848. The last two volumes are reprints from one year later, dated 1887.---- Five volumes. 8vo. (6.9 x 4.5 inches). The volumes are illustrated throughout by many different artists including, Leech, Doyle, Tenniel and Maclise. ---- Publishers red cloth with gilt lettering and decoration to all five front boards and spines. Blind single ruled border on boards. Endpapers featuring printed adverts. Minor bumping to the corners but overall a very near fine set . The cloth is bright and clean and the gilt fresh and gleaming on all five books. A beautiful set in superior condition and scarce thus.

(10.1 x 8 inches). xii, 563pp. Illustrated frontis and 39 engravings, printed proofs on fine India paper, mounted onto the pages. A clean and bright copy of this attractive edition. Finely bound in recent full red morocco. Spine with raised bands, each with a gilt dot roll design. Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Floral gilt roll border on boards. Top edge gilt, the others untrimmed. Marbled endpapers. A fine and handsome volume.

Colour frontis and thirty nine tipped-in colour plates, each with a printed tissue paper guard, and 30 fine line drawings by Rackham throughout the text, some full page. Finely bound in recent full tan morocco. Spine with raised bands, the compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Red title label, gilt. Some light foxing throughout but still a very good copy of this beautiful book in an attractive leather binding. Rackham at his very best.

Stipple engraved, hand coloured title page and seven full page, hand coloured plates, plus full page engraved speech from As You Like it, titled The ages of Man, featuring one of Shakespeare's most enduring and often quoted lines - All the world's a stage, and all the men and women meerly players- each printed by R. Fenner. The plates are engraved by William Bromley after Stothards drawings. . Fine recent binding of quarter red straight grained morocco, the spine, ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Red morocco tips to corners of boards. Some offsetting from the Illustrations onto the text pages and some staining to the margins only on 5 pages but overall a very good attractive copy of this scarce and beautiful work.

Alfred A. Knopf. New York.,1992-98. FIRST EDITIONS. 1st impressions. Three Volumes. 8vo. (8.6 x 6.1 inches). Fine, bright copies in the publishers fine original dustwrappers, designed by Chip Kidd. A fine set of true first editons of this hugely popular trilogy. There is some confusion about a probable trial issue dustwrapper for the first title, with no advance praise notices on the lower panel and lacking the blue capital letter 'A' at the start of the blurb inside the front flap. This wrapper was not officially issued with the published book. The first edition wrapper, as issued on day of publication, has the price of $21.00 on the inner front flap and the number code '5/92' at the bottom of the inner rear flap. The wrapper on All the Pretty horses in this set has both of these points.

Henry and Co. London. 1893. FIRST EDITION. Octavo. Original blue buckram, lettered in gilt. Housed in a custom green cloth slipcase and chemise. Small bookplate to front pastedown, related bibiliographic material pasted to endpapers. Shaw's very scarce first play, published in an edition, according to Laurence, of "not more than 500" copies. It was not an overwhelming bestseller. Shaw wrote to John Lane (quoted in Laurence) that the publisher "never advertised it even once; and the sale, which was only effected by great perseverance & determination on the part of the purchasers, was 150 copies." When the publisher retired in December 1897, they ceded to Shaw 194 sets of unbound sheets, which Shaw claimed to have commissioned Sotheran & Co. to bind for him. Contemporary full blue polished calf. Spines with five raised bands, each with gilt decorative roll. The compartments are ruled, lettered and fully decorated in gilt. Red and green labels, gilt. Double gilt ruled border on boards. Board edges with decorative floral gilt roll. Inner gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Housed in a blue paper coveredslip case which has some minor wear but has done its job of keeping the books protected. The slip case is felt lined and has a beige silk tie pull. The spines are just a touch faded and there are a couple of small scratches but overall this is an attractive and finely bound set of this important collection.
