This edition is edited, and with some additional content, by Carl Christian Gmelin (1762 - 1837; A German botanist, and brother to engraver Wilhelm Friedrich Gmelin (1760 - 1820). Pp: [i-v] vi - xiii [9] 1-186 + 27 fold out plates. Each hand-colored steel engraving is leaf sized and tipped to a blank bound leaf, then folded in. Rebacked with newer leather over spine and corners. Earlier green cloth over boards and original spine labels affixed. Ex-Library with small markings on paste downs, and numbers on blank verso of title page. Green cloth is a bit rubbed and soiled. Scattered light foxing, though only minimally affecting plates. A few plates show bend corners, not affecting images. Volume remains tight and plates are generally bright and clean.
