Quarter bound in publisher's gray cloth over cream and brown illustrated boards, top edge red, fore-edge deckle. Illustrated with 26 photographs and reproductions (some fold-out). From the 1850,s to the 1930's Chicago was known as the wickedest city in the United States, gambling, racketeering, bootlegging, murder. political corruption, with likes of Big Bill Thompson, Hinky Dink and Bathhouse John, H.H. Holmes, Mike McDonald, Carrie Watson, the infamous Everleigh sister, Minna and Ada, who brought brothels to extravagant luxury, to the King Pins of the day, Big Jim Colosimo, Terrible Johnny, Torrio and the one and only Al Capone.. Edges and corners slightly worn, interior of front hinge separated at one page only, gilt on spine faded, otherwise tight, and square. VERY GOOD. .
