Berkeley & San Francisco: Gay Sunshine & Gay Sunshine Press, 1981. A substantial run of the post-Stonewall gay tabloid, 33 different individual issues plus a single duplicate. Vol. 1 Nos. 4, 6-21, 23-25, 26/27 (a double issue), 28, 29/30, 31, 32, 33/34, 35, 36/37, 38/39, 40/41, 42/43, 44/45, 46 (2 copies). Tabloid format. Illustrated. Near Fine overall with light creasing and reading wear, typical toning with age; uncommonly nice shape. A radical Left LGBTQ+ journal originally begun as a project of the Gay Sunshine collective, which became associated with Gay Sunshine Press after the collective splintered. Features interviews with William S. Burroughs, John Rechy, Allen Ginsberg, Jean Genet, Gore Vidal and more. The first issue here, #4, features a very ahead-of-its-time photo spread titled "Gender Fuck" with members of the San Francisco radical theater group The Cockettes.
