New York, 1846. Very good condition. Wonderful engraved illustration of the West Village, depicting the large lumber yard at the corner of West and Horatio Streets in New York, on a handbill for Garret and Edward Green's Lumber Yard. In the foreground lumber is loaded onto horse drawn wagons; in the distance the yard is stacked with enormous piles of lumber, as ships unload at the dock. The only record we find of this item is in the auction record for the collection of Edwin Babcock Holden, collector of Americana and past president of the Grolier Club. Engraved by Everdell & Son, Fulton Street. 8 1/2 x 5 1/2". Printed on blue paper.
