Engraved allegorical frontispiece by John Pine, an accomplished engraver and friend of Hogarth. First published, 1731. The author was Gardener of the Chelsea physic garden of the Society of Apothecaries, and this work, his most popular [see: HENREY, Vol.II, p.221]. Raised bands, leather spine label printed in gilt, text clean.
