FRIDAY being the Original 498 Leaf Typescript with many hand corrections by the author on virtually every leaf. The earliest and / or first draft of this novel. (The only other typescript of this novel was produced on the first computer Robert Heinlein purchased making this his last typed manuscript. The computer generated work remains in the Heinlein archives in Santa Cruz and that one has been retyped with all corrections made and without any reference to the original title, THE HOUR OF THE KNIFE). The first leaf is soiled due to the fact that the entire typescript was kept out of a box and stored up on a dusty shelf in the Heinlein garage for years. The rest of the manuscript is just about fine. In all likelihood, you will never be able to purchase a typescript of a Robert Heinlein novel during your life time such as this. (And it is a certainty that you won't be able to purchase such an item after your life time as well). Auction records over the last 40 years reveal no Heinlein novels in manuscript form ever sold let alone offered. With a letter of provenance from Heinlein's good friend and fanzine creator, editor and owner of Locus, the late Charles N. Brown, detailing the history of this marvelous find and its transaction. Unique. And by that we mean the old definition: ONE OF A KIND. The new definitions: unusual, special, interesting, all leave us cold and want to make us head to the toilet. (Book noted in this letter not present).
