About This Item
This popular and influential English statesman served often as foreign minister and twice (1855-58, 1859-65) as prime minister; he is mainly remembered for ending the Crimean War. Free-Franked Envelope, a signed envelope front panel, 4 3/4" X 3", Sligo, Ireland, 1824 September 6. Barely visible red postal inkstamp. Very good. Boldly addressed in Palmerston's handsome hand to Lady Gore Booth at Lissadeil, Sligo. Signed with his usual "Palmerston" at lower left. Very attractive. Palmerston was secretary for war at this time.
