Illustrator: Frederic Remington. 1.025 kg.; XVI, 492 pages, last three pages blank,foreword by Atwood Manley, acknowledgements, introduction by authors, selected bibliography, letter collections concerning Frederic Remington, illustration credits, index and about the authors. Rose coloured endpapers. The text is illustrated with numerous black-and-white illustrations by Frederic Remington. Maroon coloured boards with a gilt illustration of a cows' skull on the lower right hand corner of the front panel with gilt titles to the backstrip. Light bumping and rubbing to the backstrip edges and book corners. A small red remainder spot to the top text block edge. Light age toning of the text block edges and of the internal text. There is a small red remainder spot to the top right-hand corner of the free front end paper, commensurate with removal of a tear. Illustrated dust wrapper, again by Frederic Remington, with bone coloured background and gold titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing to the dust rapper edges and a few small tears to the lower backstrip edge. Rubbing and handling marks to the dustwrapper. The results of the insect activity can be seen on the lower corner of the front fold over. A selection of correspondence by Frederic Remington, the American West's chronicler, and artist, of its last years. This is the First USA Edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
