Part of the manuscript of Liszt's first Ballade and plaster cast of his right hand to front endpaper and map of Liszt's travels to rear endpaper. Translated from the French by Moura Budberg. An infant prodigy, encouraged by Beethoven and ripening into the most brilliant pianist of his day, a national hero in Hungary, and lionized in every European capital, Liszt knew many of the great Romantics of his day - Chopin, Berlioz, George Sand - and was Wagner's closest friend and champion. Handsome and emotional, he had many love affairs, and lived to be over 70. L. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
