Lacking the maps that were inserted at rear. Owner's name ffep (Ray Meinert, Co. C 39 Inf.), no other marks in book. Some foxing to preliminaries. Both front and rear hinges cracked but holding (weakly). Covers show some edge wear. A very nice reading copy.

Garden City, NY: Country Life Press. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1920. Hardcover. Dark green cloth, gold lettering. Spine a bit cocked, sunned, corners bent, some edge wear and rubbing. Boards starting to detach with webbing visible at front and back. Owner's name and company (L) on front free end paper, some highlighting for the battles owner took part in. ; Xvi + 368 pp. Numerous b/w photos, five paintings by Captain Leon Dabo. Bibliography, references, index, appendices. The five maps listed are not present, however there is what appears to be a map of the Sergy battlefield (marked Secret). ; 7¾" - 9¾" Tall; 368 pages;
"This book is not a tactical study of the operations of a combat division; nor is it merely a colorful account of a series of actions, such as might be written by a non-military observer. A sincere effort has been made to produce, in readable form, a bird's-eye view of the whole war, an intimate history of the operations of the Division and a correct record of facts that embrace sufficient data to make the book of some military value.
" The manuscript has been revised by the commanders of regiments and of independent battalions of the Division. As published it bears the stamp of their official approval. " .

FINE between the covers, including both pastedowns, BUT the text block edges are very lightly foxed. ALSO, book stays closed when stood on its spine. Read with care, if at all. Very nice cover. No spine sunning. Gilt on covers bright as new. Spine ends scuffed a tad but tips square & flat. .
