About This Item

San Francisco: C. A. Murdock & Co., for the author, 1899. Hardcover. 139p., letterpress with vignette sketch illustrations, rubricated title page, hardbound in 7x5 inch boards, cloth spine over printed paper gilt, top edge gilt, foredge untrimmed, a pretty production with a little bit of edge wear and handsoil. Former owner (Stanford '13) has indicated his ownership with vintage bookplate, holograph legend, rubber-stamping and a pasted vignette of Stanford that conceals a defect in the ffep. Copy #54 of an unspecified limitation. Laid in are several small period notices in very good condition: Football announcement 1921, undated SF "Market St RR Co" transfer (shades of W. Sidis!), Campus tour; Keep Education Free handbill circa 1920, others, usually trivial.
