The Bobbs-Merrill Company. Very Good in Fair dust jacket. 1943. 1st Edition. 7th Printing. Hardcover. A Very Good book in a Fair dust jacket. Jacket is price-clipped, chipped at corners, rubbed, lightly soiled, with a two-inch chip to head of spine, now protected by fresh mylar sleeve. Book is bound in blue cloth with bright gilt titles to front cover and spine and a faint vertical crease to spine, owner bookplate affixed to first endpaper. Binding is tight, pages are clean and unmarked. Light spotting to fore-edge of pages, red topstain to page ends. . The dust jacket of this book identifies it as a book club edition, no other such indications in book or jacket. The name of the book club is not identified. Author photo and three reviews on back panel. The copyright page states that this is the seventh printing, January 1944. A broken "9" on page 9 and "Domininique" on page 480. Overall, this is a solid copy of an early printing of a classic. . 8vo 8" - 9" tall. D5 .
