VG(-)/No Jacket (none issued). 13.5 Cm x 19.5 Cm. f/piece+viii+354+(2, pub.list inc.Dawson list), 43 text figs, occ.full page; prev.owner's small gilt label top front pastedown, an earlier eraseable pencil signature to recto f/piece leaf, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked though patches of light tanning to f/piece and t.p., Gilt-lettered blue cloth covers bright and generally clean but a few minor marks to back, some rubbing to back joint and spine ends, but this hardly serious. Dawson's approach is a purely descriptive and comparative one, pretty up-to-date on his archaeological information but studiously avoiding any reference to evolution or human origins and remarkably does not cite Lubbock at all, whose 'Prehistoric Times' was at this date still the locus classicus for the topic in the UK and going through new editions.
