Large, sturdy softcover, glossy wrappers with illustration in yellow of 19th Century street with horse carriage and trolley car on front, spine and back wrapper, 214 pages plus brief biographical note. Top tips creased on pages 9-12, 99 and 121. On half-title page in black ink: "9/30/95. to my old friend John Russell with the very best of wishes--Canter Brown Jr." Purchased at the same estate sale were books on the history of the John Russell Cutlery Company, maker of the famous Green River knives favored by mountain men, Indians, and others in the early 1800s. Near Fine.
