Taipeh: [ The Bureau] Printed by the Toppan Printing Co. (Tokyo], 1918. . Tall, narrow brochure with small half-tone on front which is printed in back and light green. Formosa was ceded to Japan at the end of the First Sino-Japanese War in 1895 by the Treaty of Shimonoseki.in. It remained under Japanese rule until the end of WWII when it was returned to China. At the end of the Chinese Civil War in 1947 the defeated Chiang Kai-shek fled with his follows to the Island Formosa became the Republic of China and the Chinese mainland was named the People's Republic of China. A rare survivor of a troubled time.
