When the object was first discovered by an observatory in Hawaii and was decided not to be natural, there was mutual suspicion between America and Russia. When the realisation came that Earth was to have its first meeting with alien visitors a welcoming committee was sent to the orbiting space station. There was agreement that a single spacecraft, after journey lasting centuries, must have friendly intentions. They were wrong. Any, and all, weapons launched at the spacecraft were deflected with contemptuous ease. Their motives unknown. The aliens still hadn't brought into play their major weapon known as the "Foot".
