Los Angeles: Times-Mirror Press, 1923. Reprint. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. Frontis. photo of Warde and son, Ernest Warde, playing King Lear and his fool. Illustrated with black and white photographs depicting the author and other noted actors in character. Bound in brown ribbed cloth gilt lettering stamped on front cover and spine. Slight rubbing to cover, else Fine. Inscribed by the author on the front free-endpaper, "To Miss Frances Forbes with the compliments of the author/[signed] Frederick Warde May 1925" First published by McBride ten years prior. Warde was a classically trained British actor who moved to New York to perform on the Broadway stage. He played in an early film adaptation of Richard III, and would appear in theaters in which the silent was shown, supplementing the film by performing scenes from the play before or after the screening.
