Light wear to upper band. Top edge gilt. Spine and upper edges somewhat faded. Silk end papers with minor spotting in decorated frame. Original colored wrapper bound in. With 26 color plates by Andre Domin. No. 419 of a limited edition of 485 copies. Printed on wove paper. Binding is tight and firm. Interior is clean, no marks or inscriptions. 21,5 x 18 cm. A splendid copy. .

So much has been written about these poems - and about this book as a cycle - that the only further help on the subject which I can offer to my fellow readers is a quotation from one of my teachers: "The Twentieth Century began in 1857." He didn't explain, and he didn't have to.
